Teaching Procedures:

Step1:Greeting and leading-in.

(Teacher have a free talk with students: If you want to go hiking, What will you take?)

T: The International Day is coming. I would like to invite you go for a picnic in the HuaGuo Mountain. The hill behind our school. Besides food ,what will you take with you? Will you take umbrellamatches entcompassmap.

T: But if you go farther, for example, to the FengHuang Mountain in Chaozhou. The following things will be necessary for you. Such as: flashlight, blanket, map ,compass and so on. But what about go bike? We won’t by bus but bike. You need a mountain bike.

T: Do you have a dream to take a bike trip? A boy named Wang kun and his sister Wang Wei had such a dream. Today we are going to learn their dream and plan.

Step2: Reading

1).T: Please read the paragraph1 and try to answer these three questions.

① Who are Wang Kun and Wang Wei?

② What was their dream?

③ Who are Dao Wei and Yu Hang?

T: Here are some new words, try to guess. “期末考”is the final exam. “finally is a adv. 末的,最后的 “cycle” means by bike. Because in the line 3,here is “bike trip”, so cycle means “by bike”. Another, “persuade” since the bike is expensive, so she had to try to ask him to buy one. That is “说服” Ok ,please read the paragraph 1in one minute.

T: Who would like to have a try?

S1:They are brothers and sisters and both are college students.

⑥ Did Wang Kun persuade his sister to give up? Why?

T: Who would like to try?

S4:She is a stubborn girl.

S5:QingHai.

S6:No, Because he knew his sister well. Once she has made up her mind, nothing can change her .

T: Good . Wang Wei is a stubborn person . When she knew the source of Mekong River was in Qing Hai. She would not change her mind.

Two sentences for you to understand.

“Although she didn’t know the best way of getting to places, she insisted that we find the source of the river and begin our journey there.”

“She gave me a determined look-the kind that said she wouldn’t change her mind.”

3).T: Since they decided to take the bike trip. Before they started, what did they prepare? For example, if you want to take a trip, what should you prepare? Will you look at the map or atlas (book of maps)? Let’s read paragraph learned some words.

Step5: Summing up and homework.

T: In this class. We have grasped the main idea of the text. This is a “travel journal”. What did it tell us? Wang Kun and his sister dreamed about taking a great bike trip. When graduate from the college, they finally got the chance to do it. They wanted to fine out the source of Mekong River according to an atlas. The river flows through many countries, such as China, Laos, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Homework:

1) Discuss the question in P19 Ex3.

2) Finish Ex1 on P56.
